BigRed® 4D Series dryers, available in 30-inch (76 cm) and 54-inch (137 cm) belt widths, are the largest and most powerful models specifically designed for curing DTG digital inks, as well as screen-printed plastisols, water-based inks, discharge, and DTF adhesives. Engineered for high-volume DTG operations such as Kornit® and automatic screen-printing setups requiring large-scale production, these dryers feature a modular design that allows for easy expansion by adding chambers and extending conveyor length as production demands grow.
The BR4D-V30 model, equipped with a 30-inch (76 cm) wide belt and four 24-inch (61 cm) wide heaters delivering a total power of 11,400 watts, can cure 72 garments per hour when printed with DTG/digital white ink at a 2.5-minute dwell time, 216 garments per hour with water-based ink or discharge, and 475 garments per hour with plastisol ink or DTF adhesives.
The BR4D-V54 model, featuring a 54-inch (137 cm) wide belt and four 48-inch (122 cm) wide heaters with a combined output of 22,800 watts, cures 144 garments per hour with DTG/digital white ink at a 2.5-minute dwell time, 432 garments per hour with water-based ink or discharge, and 950 garments per hour with plastisol ink.
For instance, a BR4D-V54 configured with four heating chambers is capable of curing 576 garments per hour with DTG/digital white ink at a 2.5-minute dwell time, 1,728 garments per hour with water-based ink or discharge, and 3,800 garments per hour with plastisol ink.
BigRed 4D Series dryers incorporate a high-powered pre-heating zone that rapidly increases ink temperatures to over 300°F (149°C) within the first few inches of conveyor travel. This maximizes the effective dwell time at optimal curing temperatures, increasing conveyor speeds and overall dryer throughput.
To enhance efficiency and safety, air intake fans positioned beneath the enclosure roof draw in ‘make-up’ air through filtered inlets on both sides of the exterior at rates of up to 560 cfm (15.6 m³/min). This system helps cool the outer shell while preheating incoming air.
An exhaust fan, centrally located beneath the conveyor belt, pulls preheated air downward at rates of up to 900 cfm (25.5 m³/min), directing it over the garments and through the belt to efficiently remove heat, moisture, and airborne contaminants from the chamber.
For flexible installation, the 6-inch (152 mm) diameter exhaust fan outlet can rotate 360 degrees for easy ductwork connection, and the control box can be mounted on either the right (standard) or left side of the chamber.
Exhaust filters positioned on both sides of the conveyor prevent garment lint from reaching the blower or exhaust system. These filters can be cleaned in under a minute before or after each shift, ensuring consistent print quality, protecting the equipment, and maintaining a clean work environment.
To enhance operational safety, exhaust flow sensors with warning lights alert operators to clogged exhaust lines, blocked filters, or blower failure. Additional safety features include a light tower for real-time dryer status monitoring and a ‘cool down mode’ for controlled shutdown.
Dual digital PID temperature controls maintain precision within ±1°F (±0.5°C).
The heaters in BigRed 4D dryers come with a 15-year warranty and utilize closely spaced coils to deliver high-density, medium-wavelength infrared heat. This design ensures rapid, even curing without cold spots or the under-curing issues commonly found in conventional dryers.
